Freshly roasted coffee naturally releases carbon dioxide. In order to package the roasted coffee at its peak flavor and keep the coffee fresh for the longest time, special requirements needed for coffee packaging bags.

As a professional flexible packaging manufacturer, we have produced many food packaging, such as dog food, dried fruit, beverages, frozen food packaging, etc. In order to ensure the freshness of food and extend the shelf life, we will use materials with high barrier properties for the packaging , Such as aluminum foil, PVDC, EVOH, to protect the product from the harm of oxygen, humidity, moisture and so on. However, for coffee packaging, whether for coffee beans or ground coffee, in addition to the high barrier properties required by other foods, packaging design should be considered carefully as well.

Here are four types of coffee bag to consider:

1 Flat Bottom Pouch
Flat bottom pouch is one of the most popular packaging formats in the coffee industry. It features a prominent shelf display and excellent stability. In addition, whether you want to use hand packing or high-speed automatic filling, flat bottom pouch, which usually have four corners at their top openings and much more room to accommodate filling tools.

2 Gusset Pouch
Gusset pouches are also very popular in the coffee industry. It can be said that they are specially designed for coffee. they are easy to fill and seal. They have gussets on both sides and they have a vertical sealing from the top-side to the bottom-side. they can be used to display vertically and  also easy to carry and take home.

3 Doy Pack
The doy pack or stand up pouch has three bottom types, which is differentiates itself from typical coffee packaging. It leaves the impression of high-quality, small-batch products for consumers. It often fitted with a zipper. When we produce this zipper stand up pouch, we can keep it open so that it can increase the efficiency by at least 10% when filling, this type of coffee packaging bag is beloved by consumers for its convenience.

4 Flat Pouch
The flat pouch is also called pillow bag. This bag is the most economical and simplistic bag type. It is usually used in batches, single servings, or with other stand-up bags( we call it BAG-In-Bag)for coffee packaging, Flat bags are by far the least costly to produce.

In addition to the bag type, coffee packaging often has a one-way degassing valve,  It offers the natural build-up of carbon dioxide in freshly roasted coffee an escape outlet while not letting the hazardous substances like oxygen, moisture, or light inside the coffee bag.

This is what makes coffee bags special. I hope they are useful to you.
